US Patent: 595,865 https://www.datamp.org/patents/displayPatent.php?id=18957&pn=595,865 Lens Measure Patentee: William Harry Reisner - Hagerstown, Washington County MD Granted:1897-12-21
Manufactured by L. S. Starrett Co. - Athol, Worcester County MA

Edwin Guthrie - patent attorney Abstract: My invention relates to lens-measures, particularly to that class of focal measures for spherical and cylindrical lenses possessing three or more relatively fixed and movable bearing-points against which a lens may be pressed, a graduated dial or annulus, a suitable hand or pointer, and intervening mechanism adapted to turn the hand upon the dial in correspondence with changes in position of the movable point or points. Claim: In a lens-measure, the combination of an exterior casing, a graduated dial, an inner casing, devices for moving the inner with respect to the outer casing, relatively fixed and movable pins borne by said inner casing, superior and inferior hands arranged to sweep said dial independently, mechanism supported by said inner casing and adapted to operate said superior hand, said inferior hand being attached to said inner casing, said pins, mechanism and hands partaking of the movement of said inner casing as a whole, substantially as described.

US Patent: 968,884 https://www.datamp.org/patents/displayPatent.php?id=19919&pn=968,884 Indicating Surface Gage Patentees: William H. Reisner - Hagerstown, Washington County MD , Victor E. Middlekauff - Hagerstown, Washington County MD Granted:1910-08-30
Manufactured by L. S. Starrett Co. - Athol, Worcester County MA

Pervice, Goldsborough & Neil, patent attorneys Abstract: This invention relates to indicating surface gages and more particularly to gages of this type such as described in Letters Patent, No. 773,983, granted to William H. Reisner, on November 1st, 1904. One of the objects of this invention is to simplify greatly the interior mechanism of the gage shown and described in the patent referred to. It is aimed to reduce the number of operative parts of the mechanism to a minimum and also to provide a construction in which the geared connection between the grooved,. barrel and, the pointer-carrying arbor is dispensed with, as such a connection makes the instrument more or less inaccurate due to the play between the gears and the impossibility of cutting their teeth with the requisite exactness and accuracy. According to this invention, the grooved barrel is located centrally in the case or cup of the gage and carries the pointer directly, the actuating pushpin being arranged eccentrically, instead of concentrically, with respect to the case. A further object of the invention is to provide improved means for mounting the gage so that it may be readily mounted in the tool-post of a lathe, or in a similar place, in such a manner as to be adjustable in a number of ways with respect to the work. (6) The invention also purposes the provision of an improved attachment adapted for use with -the gage to indicate when a bore or other cavity formred-in.the work is of greater or'-less diameter at its inner portion than at its notith or off' center with respect to the center of the lathe, or other machine in which 'the work is held., A still farther object of the inven~tion is to provide 'an iiproved attachment by wvhich' the gage may be clamped on a metal cutting tool, such as used in a lathe; shaper, or planer, and properly adjusted with respect to the work. Claim: In a surface gage, the combination of a case, a bridge extending across the case, a push pin guided vertically in the bridge, a second bridge above the first, and a pointer-carrying barrel journaled in the second bridge and rotated by said push pin.

US Patent: 1,419,306 https://www.datamp.org/patents/displayPatent.php?id=72303&pn=1,419,306 Indicating Surface Gauge Patentee: William H. Reisner - Hagerstown, Washington County MD Granted:1922-06-13
Manufactured by L. S. Starrett Co. - Athol, Worcester County MA
Assigned to L. S. Starrett Co. - Athol, Worcester County MA

Abstract: This invention relates to indicating surface gauges, and involves certain improvements and refinements over the gauges described in the Reisner Patent #773,983, and the Reisner and Middlekauff Patent #968,884, to which reference is made as illustrating the particular type of gauge involved herein. The object of my present invention is to provide a conveniently adjustable guide for the cross pin which actuates the pointer carrying pinion of the gauge whereby said pin may be accurately aligned with and maintained in engagement in the helical groove of said pinion throughout its entire actuating travel.

Manufactured by L. S. Starrett Co. - Athol, Worcester County MA
Assigned to W. H. Reisner Mfg. Co. - Hagerstown, Washington County MD

Abstract: My invention relates to indicating surface-gages and its object is to provide a simple, strong, and easily-operated gage by means of which minute inequalities of size or surface may be detected and indicated definitely in fractional parts of any unit of measure, usually an inch. Claim: In an indicating surface-gage, the combination of a gage-box, a push-pin movable through the bottom of the said box and means adapted to guide the said pin, a dial, a pointer arranged to sweep the dial and dev ices constructed to support the pointer and to transmit and transform the reciprocative movement of the said pin to the sweeping movement of the pointer, and a projecting rod secured to the said gage-box and having a friction-joint.
