Description:
"The History of Cohoes, New York, from its earliest settlement to the present time" by Arthur H. Masten, and published 1877, has this to say:

"(In 1859) a new enterprise was Blake & Son's saw works, which occupied the first, second and third stories of T. G. Younglove's new building on Mohawk street. The polishing and grinding machine in use was the joint invention of Messrs. Blake & Dodge of Cohoes. Between forty and fifty dozen wood saws were sent to market daily.

"An axe factory was subsequently established by this firm in the rear of the saw works which did not, however, continue long in operation."
