Description:
A couple of Indianapolis history sites continue this tidbit: "1873: Martindale area is settled by Frederick Ruschaupt and Gustave Zschech, operators of the Indianapolis Car Works railroad machine yard." Zschech briefly belonged the Freethinkers Society in Indianapolis in 1872. The 1874 "Wiley's American iron trade manual of the leading iron industries of the United States" lists Zschech as the secretary of the Indianapolis Car Works, employing 700 hands.
