Description:
The handle screws into the end of one jaw. The other jaw has a slide extending at right angles, which runs through a mortise in the first jaw, and is held in position by the screw on the handle. The patent is described as an improvement on Thomas Pratt's January 8, 1867 patent (no. 61097).
