Abstract:

Detachable driving-wheels of steam wagons &c. are secured to flanged sleeves b, f, one of which is connected directly to the axle and the other to the differential gearing. The flange f and brake drum p are enclosed substantially within the rim of the wheel. The end of the wheel hub projects into a recess in the sleeve b.
