This patent was improved by patent #1,358,074.

Claim:

In combination with a die head carrying radially operating threading dies and a longitudinally operating shell embracing the head, of cam studs secured to the shell and passing through said head and supported thereby, said dies having cam grooves formed in their cutting faces and over their cutting edges adapted to register with the cam portion of the studs to actuate the radial movement of the dies to open and close, locking mechanism carried by the head and engaging the shell to hold the shell in an advanced position, and means for releasing the locking mechanism.
