This is a simple metal marking gage that sets out to address
two problems with metal wheeled gages: lack of support for
the point, and the unprotected sharp edge.
Both of these probelms are addressed by burying the wheeled
marker in the end of the bar. The cavity the wheel rides in
is machined close enough to allow the wheel to bear on the arm,
thus relieving some of the stress on the screw. The arm also
has a distinct hump at the end to allow the user to put his
thumb over the marker without fear of cutting himself.
