Another gage designed to mark both the lock and hinge mortises
for a door, similar to the Schwantes patent of the previous year
(1,197,308). Also like the Schwantes design, all gains on
this tool are adjustable.
The one really nice feature on this tool (and oddly, one not claimed
by the inventor), is that all settings are set with normal screws,
rather than thumbscrews. This would prevent the gage from going out
of alignment, at the cost of making it harder to adjust. For a
carpenter that always uses the same size hinge, this would be a great
convenience.
