1877 E. E. Duyckinck catalog (see p. 36)
Description:
These hose clamps were manufactured and sold as "Rath's patent hose clamps". The 1877 catalog of E. E. Duyckinck, a New York City supplier of hardware specialties, shows this invention on page 36. The manufacturer is not identified. An 1894 catalog from E. E. Griffith also shows the Rath's patent hose clamp, costing $1.44 per dozen in the smallest ½-inch size and $6.60 per dozen in the largest 2½-inch size. 1866 and 1870 city directories list Emil Rath as a brass-molder so it seems most likely that he was the manufacturer.
