Rack and pinion valve spring compressor with provisions for controlling the force needed to compress a spring, retain it in compression, or relax the compression. The bulk of the specification deal with the means to control that force.

Harry W. Kulp and Martin C. Dellinger were the founders of K-D Mfg. Co. of Lancaster, PA.

A valve spring compressor matching this appearance was produced by the Waterloo Valve Spring Compressor Company of Waterloo, IA based on patent no. 1,603,818 granted Oct. 19, 1926. Waterloo Valve Spring Compressor Co. was found to have infringed based on patent nos. 1,330,542 and 1,879,330.
