Description:
An earlier patent granted to John Casson is known to have been used by the Scottish maker John McDowall & Sons. We do not know whether they also used this patent. We do know that Oliver & Sons, Ltd., of Chesterfield, England used both this patent and the earlier stock-feeding patent; that information comes from an article in the 1878-12-14 Scientific American.
