Description:
This sander/grinder uses a single wheel and a sanding belt that is just slightly greater in diameter than that of the wheel. When the wheel is turning rapidly, it expands in diameter which allows it to firmly grip the belt. It is an improvement on patent 2,221,173 and was subsequently improved in patent 2,801,504. Although the latter patent does not mention this one, both patent numbers were seen on a Craftsman "Multi-Purpose Grinding Wheel" from Sears, Roebuck & Co. We believe the Craftsman product was manufactured by the assignee of the '504 patent, Mermac Products, Inc.
