Vintage Machinery entry for Howland, Angell & King
Description:
In 1860 the inventor would partner with E. T. King (a witness on this patent) and H. B. Angell to form Howland, Angell & King, makers of steam engines plus sawmill and mining equipment. At the time this patent was issued, co-assignee Hanscom was a partner in Goddard, Hanscom & Rankin, operators of the Pacific Foundry and where Hanscom was the bookkeeper. Howland, meanwhile, was a "quartz owner" and his future business partners, Horace B. Angell and Eben T. King, were the machine shop foreman and the pattern shop foreman, respectively, at the Pacific Foundry.
