Jeff Joslin Vintage Machinery entry for Manning, Maxwell & Moore, Inc.
|
Description: |
The inventor was co-owner of Milliken Brothers, a construction company and manufacturer of components for steel-frame buildings. This drilling machine was intended to be used in drilling rivet-holes in structural steel. It was sold by Manning, Maxwell & Moore as the Milliken Bicycle Drill. An 1897 article on this product clearly shows that the example matches this patent's design; patent D26,287 shows what was likely an earlier version that was subsequently modified to reduce weight and improve stiffness. |
