Description:
The method of making precision gears relies on a hobbing grinder where the abrasive wheel has on its perimeter a helical thread of correct pitch and cross-section to generate the gear teeth; the blank is rotated in synchrony with the abrasive wheel. See patent 1,612,830 for a hobbing grinder of this type.
