Description:
Cant was a pattern maker and Gourlay was a mechanic. The patent is for a mechanism to drive the bed "by the combination of toothed wheels working with teeth cast or fixed upon the lower side of the before-mentioned rotary bed slats". The patent also covers a sliding frame that could be adjusted to take up wear. Finally the patent covers a mechanism to oil the bed plates.
