"Vintage Machinery" entry for J. P. Udal
Description:
This invention provides for a primary guard attached to the machine, plus a secondary guard that is mounted to the primary guard and that can be moved by the machine. In normal operation only the secondary guard moves. If the operator's hand is caught by the guard then the primary guard is pushed on by the secondary guard via the trapped hand, and this motion of the primary guard pushes the hand out of danger.
