Description:
Saw is a "muley saw", which is a reciprocating sawmill that does not use a gate—rather like an overgrown scrollsaw.

This patent was the subject of articles in Scientific American and other technology journals. After glowing descriptions of the sawmill, the interested reader was referred to D. C. Gibbs, Fleetville, Pa. We found no evidence that anyone ever manufactured this invention.
