Description:
This very important patent covers the squirrel-cage motor design, which became the dominant induction motor design within a few years and remained the dominant motor design until computerized motor controllers enabled the widespread adoption of DC motors. Even today, applications not requiring variable speed operation are likely to use a motor design very similar to what can be seen in this patent.
