Description:
Cross-section of the "blade" of the single twist and the ellipsoid profile between twists designed to maximize space and speed of clearing chips. For a very similar bit patented the previous year, see Hoefle's patent (430344).

Another key element of this patent regards a small gap, or annular groove, at the base of the lead screw. The purpose is to allow the threading of the lead screw to be formed without risk of damaging the floor, or cutting, lip(s).
