Jeff Joslin Vintage Machinery entry for Ranalah Ltd.
|
Description: |
This type of machine is variously known a paneling machine, a wheeling machine, or an English wheel, and is used in forming sheet metal. This patent machine is particularly intended for forming sheet aluminum for aircraft skins where the parts have tight curves subtending a large angle so that the usual machine frame would interfere with the movement of the workpiece. This is the well-known Ranalah wheeling machine made by Ranalah Ltd. from 1936 into the 2010s. These machines are still used in the restoration of vintage airplanes and automobiles. |
