Description:
A rigid hook jaw, with a sliding toothed wedge forcing a work piece against a gripping block that inserts in the hook portion. The gripping block can be configured with an angled toothed face suitable for a pipe wrench, or a straight face suitable for a nut wrench.

Martin called his February 23, 12897 patent (no. 577,770) an improvement in certain regards.
