Description:
The inventor's first name does not appear on the patent, but does appear in the Annual Report of the Commissioner of Patents. The inventor received numerous patents over the years; this was one of his earlier patents, and is the only one related to sawmills. Many of the others are related to mining and ore processing. A search failed to uncover any evidence that he ever manufactured his sawmill. It did, however, win an impressive Gold Medal at the 1846 Fair of the American Institute.
