Description:
The chain extends from an elongated link, and wraps completely around the pipe or nut. The specifications note a considerable number of alternative forms, with smooth and gripping surfaces on the handle face, and curved, serrated, or flat faces on the edges of the chain links facing the work piece.

The wrench received British patent 1,401 dated January 26, 1891. The language of the specifications implies this chain wrench was in active production in Britain.
