Description:
Swaging of the ends of the blanks so there are thick portions of metal at the sides and center which enables the head of the auger to be formed without welding. Jennings references this patent as designed to facilitate the construction of his previous patented screw augers, 12,318 and RE2,018. This was the first of three patents he was awarded for manufacturing augers. See 56,058 and 56,058.
