Description:
The main patented feature is the supplemental jaw with its catches. It can be "latched" to the adjustable jaw in which case the adjustable jaw can rock, allowing for a type of ratchet action. It can be "latched" to the main body, in which case the movable jaw will not rock.

Compare the "Whiting Ratchet Action Wrench" based on Johnson's June 15, 1897 patent no. 584,591.
