Description:
The hammer combines claw hammer, nail holder, straight pein and regular nail poll.

A hammer corresponding to this design in appearance and features is known; the battered markings include "..9th 1867." See also #1 on pg. 12 of Baird & Commerford's THE HAMMER. The corresponding British patent (No. GB-186701067 - April 10, 1867} has Selsor and Cook of Philadelphia as the patentees. Selsor, Cook & Co.'s tool factory (edge tools, hammers, etc.) at Germantown, Philadelphia is noted in "testimonial" ads for the HARRISON BOILER in mid-1860s SCIENTIFIC AMERICAN and other trade journals.
