This invention is to use cheaper or defective material as the core with premium lumber as the surface. Tongue-and-groove construction is used. The November 1902 issue of Canada Lumberman has an ad from Gilmour & Co., Ltd., of Trenton, featuring this patent lumber. According to the ad the company was "Established 1820" and had offices in London, New York, Chicago, Glasgow, Capetown and Sydney. They made both lumber and finished products, including veneers, doors, sash, lath, railroad ties, hardwood flooring, egg cases, etc.—they claimed to make 300,000 doors per year. |
