Vintage Machinery entry for Chas. G. Allen Co.
Description:
This patent was seen on a drill press manufactured by the Chas. G. Allen Co.

"The object of this invention is to provide a new and improved mechanism for driving the spindles of various machines, such as the spindles of drilling machines, tapping machines, etc. The principal purpose of the invention is to provide a mechanism which can adjust itself to various conditions of use and wear. To accomplish this I fit the driving pulley on a bushing and drive the spindle by a driving collar, and provide a lost motion connection between the driving pulley and driving collar."
