Description:
"The invention relates to lathes incorporating leadscrews and has as its object the provision of a new or improved method of and means for automatically compensating for and correcting errors in leadscrews whereby very high degrees of accuracy may be attained and maintained by such lathes during their operation at all times. According to the invention a lathe incorporating leadscrew and saddle moved thereby is provided with an electromotor and coupling unit to the leadscrew for axially moving the said screw to automatically compensate for errors in accuracy in the screw, the said unit being automatically controlled by photoelectric scanning apparatus mounted in the saddle and arranged to co-act with and feed information carried by a stationary correcting member."
