Wikipedia biography of Sybilla Righton Masters
Description:
Sybilla Masters moved to London (from Pennsylvania) to open a hat shop where she sold her "West Indies" hats and bonnets as well as baskets, matting and furniture, all made from palmetto leaves. She returned home after only a couple of months due to homesickness. She died in 1720, at about 44 years of age.
