Description:
The handle connects to the nearer jaw by a flange; turning the handle extends the further jaw. A primary feature of the patent is the internal adjustable friction spring which helps hold the adjustment. Produced as CLOW'S BOSS wrench.

A known 5 inch long example is marked "ROUSE MFG. CO. JERSEY CITY, NJ" and "CLOWS PAT. SEPT. 9, 1890"

In corresponding Canadian patent CA-35,136, George E. Clow's address is given as Pittsfield, MA.
