Description:
This patent covers what is believed to be the first magnetic chuck. Walker's design used an electromagnet, thus requiring electricity and wiring to the chuck. In 1935 a British patent, GB-429,199, was granted for the first permanent magnet chuck (see also its USA equivalent, 2,053,177).
