Description:
The ratchet is a rotating toothed disk, pawl and spring inside a drop forged frame, with side plates retaining the parts pressed into place. One of the side plates has a hole to oil the pawl and spring.

Herbert Fish's Dec. 18, 1951 split socket ratchet patent (no. 2,578,687) cites this patent in the "References."
