Vintage Machinery entry for Berlin Machine Works
Description:
This important patent covers the use of a sanding drum designed so that the paper is wrapped spirally along its length. A spiral groove accommodates a small amount of overlap of the paper. The result is a cylinder that sands smoothly, without the bump-bump-bump of the designs it replaces. This innovation achieved great success for Berlin Machine Works, which became known as P. B. Yates Machine Co.
