Description:
The major feature of the patent is the design of the sheet metal stamping which forms the handle and support for the fixed jaw. The finished wrench presents a smooth finish which would not snag clothing. This style wrench is described, but not shown, in an 1887 British "Bicyclist's Handbook." (see British patents GB-188702596 & GB-188707648).

An 1894 advertisement indicates Overman Wheel was abandoning this design for a lighter style with one open side. The two are shown together as the bottom two wrenches in photo no. 101 in "Antique and Unusual Wrenches" by Schulzes.
