Description:
Fixed-size openings at each end; the "steps" coordinated to sizes of hexagonal nuts. The length of the successive "steps" is one-third of the "face length" of the nuts -- this length allows for "ratchet action on the return stroke."

Produced in Britain as "Fastnut;" corresponding Canadian patent CA-230,995 was granted May 15, 1923 and corresponding U.S. patent 1,479,772 was granted Jan. 1, 1924.

The British patent notes 1902 Alexander Taylor patent GB-190,219,816; this patent is not noted in the Canadian and U.S. descriptions.
