Description:
Abstract:

Consists of improvements in injectors described in Specification No. 1728, A.D. 1889, in which the general arrangement of the nozzles &c. is the same Fig. 1 is a longitudinal section of the injector, and Fig. 2 is a section on the line A, B of Fig. 1. Steam enters from the boiler into the chamber a', and thence passes by the valve g, chamber a', and nozzles d, e, e', f to the valve j<1>, whence it returns to the boiler through the valve k. The water enters the tube a<4> and passes through the valve h<2> by the ordinary channels to the boiler, the overflow going down the tube i. The valve h<2> can be fixed down by the handle h<9> which actuates the spindle h<1>, but when this spindle is raised the valve h<2> can be opened or closed by the fluid pressure on one side or the other. When the injector is stopped, the condensed steam can thus pass to the overflow pipe but not to the water-supply pipe a<4>, because the back pressure closes the valve. A similar valve j' prevents the return of fluid from the boiler. A modified form is described in which the valve g becomes a two-way valve, so that steam can be sent through any other apparatus either with or without sending it through the injector.
