Description:
Claim:

It has been the object of the present inventor to provide an improved speed change transmission including an efficient, simplified arrangement of gearing extending from the driving pulley to the spindle, in which the gear arrangement may be easily modified to be capable of providing different ranges of speeds, for example, nine, eighteen, or twenty-seven speeds. The arrangement of shafts and gearing is such that the builder or manufacturer of the lathe may produce a standard headstock and may alter this headstock to change the range afforded thereby, merely by altering the gear setup adjacent the power input end of the transmission, that is, adjacent the clutch and driving pulley.
