Description:
The main insight in the patent is that a paper shim between bearing surfaces during the pressing and riveting stages of assembling pliers and other pivoted handle tools results in a non-binding joint.

The paper also acts as a temporary adhesive holding the parts together during finishing processes.

The end-cutting pliers shown in the drawings is the subject of pat. no. 1,192,021.
