The main focus of the patent is the "U" shaped "nut guards" which are intended to prevent rubbing friction from turning the adjusting nut while the wrench is in use. It is a modification of the 1911 TRIMO nut guard patent (no. 1,012,036).

Some of these nut guards have the patent date stamped in, on a concealed surface that is only visible when the wrench is disassembled.

The wrench shown in the illustration is also stamped "ORD DEPT. USA" on the reverse side of the frame. This style replaced wrenches based on patent no. 765,569; Trimont was advertising wrenches with this style of frame as early as 1912.
