Description:
The shape of the handles, and of the intersection of the handles, makes the tool self-adjusting. The small hinged piece narrows the slot effectively creating two size ranges. Plier wrenches employing this patent have a sliding joint with no pivot bolt.

Used in conjunction with Allan's April 1920 and August 1921 patents (nos. 1,337,986 and 1,386,149) for the KANT-SLIP line of plier wrenches.

A version including a pivot bolt and more closely resembling conventional pliers appears to match patent no. 1,873,805 granted Aug. 23, 1932.
