Description:
The patent describes a wrench formed largely of sheet metal stampings. The overall form and concepts in this patent and Starley's subsequent patent GB-188707648 also appear in U.S. patent 444,402 granted Jan. 6, 1891. Although the Starley firm was in Coventry, John Kemp Starley's address is given as London.

Note: British patents (pre 1916) were numbered by the year and started at patent #1 at the start of each year in January.
