Description:
The patent applies to locking plier wrenches with an adjustable center link. In this patent, the lever handle has a selector slide which shifts the effective fulcrum. With the slide set as in Fig. 1, the lever handle closes the jaws, and the lug on the handle acts as a stop. With the slide set as in Fig. 2, the lug on the handle acts as a secondary fulcrum, to release the "over center" condition of the adjustable link. This arrangement puts the lock release as close as possible to the size adjustment, and facilitates one-handed operation of the tool.

Early production of the GRIPSO VISE PLIER using this patent has the patent number stamped in the handle next to the slide. Other patents pertinent to the evolution of the GRIPSO VISE PLIER include 2,514,130, 2,519,973, and 2,523,385.

The specifications cite patent nos. 1,086,078, 1,568,934, 2,201,918, 2,284,003, 2,327,368, 2,443,153, 2,462,709, and 2,489,895 as references.
