The patent is to simplify the construction and improve the performance of pipe wrenches of the type represented by patent nos. 1,602,620, 1,830,033, 2,351,821, and 2,623,428. The major features are the flat spiral tension spring and the thumb *trigger* at the lower end of the movable jaw. Design patent D164,505 shows the outward physical appearance.
