Description:
The handle has exterior threads interfacing with threads on the "lower jaw" and interior threads interfacing with threads on the "outer jaw." The threads run in opposite directions, creating rapid adjustment. A check nut can be screwed against the "lower jaw" to set the adjustment. Compare British patent GB-188802927 registered Feb. 27, 1888. The drawings and text of the specifications differ in U.S. patent 434,912.

Green is listed as half interest assignee on U.S. patent 434,912. He was President of the American Improved Wrench Co. which produced this Bornstein patent wrench.
