Description:
Hall's patent features a hook jaw on a movable pivot. The hook can be swung back far enough to re-sharpen the gripping point on the main shank of the wrench. The smallest size "Bicycle" wrench based on this patent has the adjusting screw "knob" on the end of the handle; all the larger sizes have it within the shank as shown in the patent drawing.

Ken Cope's "American Wrench Makers 1830-1930" cites 5 patents for Hall's wrench, and shows the small Bicyle wrench version introduced in 1896. The other patents are 516,485 (3/13/1894), 521,312 (6/12/1894), 523,810 (7/31/1894), and 586,738 (7/20/1897).
