Description:
A cam face on the swinging handle portion compresses the movable jaw against the fixed jaw. A tension spring tends to close the jaws. The jaws are opened by the side links to the swinging handle. The specifications note U.S. patent 637,921 as relevant prior art.

The only clear marking on a known example is "PATENT;" the tool may have been produced in Germany or Britain. Parallel patents were granted in several European countries (see Espacenet). British patent GB-190226218 does not include the pipe wrench version, or mention previous U.S. patents. The Swiss patent gives the German name (Aachen) for Aix-La_Chapelle.
