Description:
A diagonally adjustable double open end wrench. The major differences between this wrench and William Baxter's diagonal wrench patent of Feb. 12, 1856 (pat. No. 14,221) are the location of the adjusting knurl and the interlocking tongues.

A known example has no visible maker's markings; Taft was assigning patents and making arrangements with other manufacturers in the late 1860s and early 1870s while directing his attention to blacksmiths' drills so the maker is truly unknown.
