Description:
The jaws are at right angles to the handles, and have gripping teeth for pipe and irregular items as well as notches which form grips for round bolt heads as shown in the drawings. The tool has a three-position slip-joint size adjustment. Ambler, Holman & Co. is listed as the maker in 1912 "new product" announcements.

Schlehr received a patent on Feb. 4, 1913 for a closely related pliers tool with jaws at a 45 degree angle and wire cutter notches (pat. no. 1,051,921).

Both designs were marketed as EAGLE CLAW, and are shown in trade mark no. 72,618 issued November 25, 1913 to the Eagle Claw Wrench Co. in Chicago.

British patent GB-191200899 registered Jan. 11, 1912 shows both the "straight" and 45-degree angle jaw forms, and adds a 2nd patentee.
